About me

Human’s ability to grow is infinite, when they feel safe.” Carl Rogers

When you make the decision to embark on therapy, to maybe gain some sense of what is happening in your world and within yourself, it is often accompanied by a very, human need to be genuinely heard, seen, understood and feel emotionally safe.

This is the core of my philosophy for personal growth and I am deeply motivated in providing a safe environment.

Carl Rogers was the founder of person-centred therapy and believed we can grow and meet personal fulfilment when we share the parts of us that we often shy away from and are still met with positive self regard. Through this experience we are more likely to be consistent and congruent; saying, behaving and living to how we truly feel. This can only deepen our self-worth and therefore, our sense of personal peace. This is what I will support you with and I look forward to meeting you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I was originally trained in California, at Antioch University in Los Angeles, as a Marriage, Family Therapist. I was extensively trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, namely, Systemic Family Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy as well as Solution Focused Therapy and CBT. During my Masters programme, I specifically studied attachment theory and affective neuroscience and have a personal interest in the role of neuropsychology and brain development in relation to how we experience our world.

During this time in the States, I worked alongside women with eating disorders in an intensive, treatment programme for almost seven years. I also garnered a lot of experience working with couples, children and individuals in a community counselling practice. After some time as a mother and two years in Brazil! I returned to the UK and completed my studies with a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling. I have worked in a variety of settings, including NHS clinics, Community Counselling projects and within a Rehabilitation treatment centre for clients with drug & alcohol addictions, eating disorders, co-dependency, often with other mental-health and psychosocial considerations.

Having also been a Mental-Health Nurse, I am very accustomed to working with a range of mental-health issues.
