About me

Does your own life lack meaning and direction? If you feel that this is the case, then counselling could help you find a more meaningful direction, by helping you to explore your personal issues. An existential way of thinking about your life experience may assist you.

About Me

I have specialisms in disability, eating disorders and low self-esteem. I have cerebral palsy myself, so I have experience and insights into disability that other counsellors may not have. If you feel that your disability is hindering you from living your life in the way that you want to, then together we can break down the barriers restricting you. I can offer an empathetic way of responding, offering ideas to move each individual's life forward.

I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and adhere to the BACP Ethical framework:

Some of my own personal experiences that I once thought were negative have actually turned out to be a positive influence to others, because I can now help those who are experiencing similar issues. This same transition from the negative to the positive could happen to you too.

My Approach

I do not have one particular theory that I base my practice on. I adapt my work to each individual, integrating different theoretical perspectives to suit the client. The approaches I integrate include the psychodynamic, humanistic and also CBT.

Rather than giving you the answers, I can be your facilitator of change, helping you to find the answers for yourself. I can help you to develop a new perspective on the world and of yourself in society. I have an impartial, non-judgmental attitude. My counselling work aims to help people cope with the challenges in their life and for them to consider their thoughts and feelings in a different way, and to promote increased self awareness and consciousness of thoughts and actions.

Counselling is…

  • Reassurance
  • Exploration
  • A collaboration
  • Discovery
  • Confidential
  • Non-judgmental

What you can hope to get out of counselling…

  • trust and movement
  • freedom to express yourself
  • the space to be you
  • increased self -awareness
  • increased consciousness of your actions and behaviour

I offer a safe and confidential environment in which to work.

In order to increase accessibility to everyone, I also offer online and email counselling as well as face-to-face sessions.
