Rachel Vanstone MA CBT
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and EMDR practitioner with over 15 years experience of working in the NHS. I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, panic disorder, low self esteem OCD, PTSD, trauma, relationship and personality difficulties. I work both short term and long term.
I provide a warm and safe environment to explore the reasons that bring you to therapy, working collaboratively to identify possible causes of your problems and develop strategies to better manage them. CBT is a particularly effective therapy for making changes. It looks to change how we feel by what we do and how we think and helps us make links between our past experiences and our present. It also helps us set achievable goals that can make life more fulfilling and less problematic.
Making the decision to start therapy isn't an easy one and finding the right therapist for you is important. I offer a confidential and welcoming space to be who you are, talk freely, feel understood and supported. Help you gain fresh perspectives, establish goals and develop new ways of coping.
Alongside my private practice, I work as an Occupational Therapist in a Community Mental Health Team. This provides me with experience of working with people with more severe mental health difficulties and assessing and managing risk. I have previously worked as a Counsellor in general practice and for Surestart (working with parents).
