Rachel Kittermaster, BA (Hons), PGDip
I am a UKCP registered integrative psychotherapist offering long and short term therapy in a pleasant garden studio in Farnham, Surrey.
Whatever your motivation for seeking therapy or counselling now – be it difficulty in forming or maintaining satisfying relationships, distressing events in the past or present, or the search for a more meaningful life – taking some time to explore your experience can be profoundly transformative.
Over time, clients report greater understanding and compassion for themselves and others, freedom to make better choices and also a feeling of being 'in the driving seat' – authors of their own lives.
I draw on a range of ideas from the psychoanalytic, humanistic and existential traditions to support you in finding the right way forward. I have a particular interest in the ways in which we make attachments, in how hidden aspects of ourselves can hold us back, and in working creatively with imagery and symbolism. The quality of the therapeutic relationship is central to my approach.
If you are looking for a therapist, please feel free to call or email me to discuss your concerns and whether you might like to arrange an initial consultation. This is a chance for us to meet each other and see how therapy might be of benefit to you.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training involved five years of academic study and clinical work leading to a Post-graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (UKCP accredited) from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI) and University of Birmingham. Previously I worked for 10 years for a large public corporation.
I have several years' experience working with NHS and private clients in settings including Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales, where I also co-facilitated an anger management group. All of my work is confidential and bound by the ethical codes of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and that of my member organisation, the SPTI.
