I am a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist based in Alveston, South Gloucestershire and work mainly in private practice.
Counselling can involve talking about deeply sensitive issues and revealing your inner most personal thoughts and feelings. I believe that, for any therapy to be effective, clients need to be able to build up a trusting relationship with their therapist. My focus is on my clients and listening to their problems and concerns without judgement in a safe, supportive environment.
My main approach is Person Centred, but I work in an integrative way by providing a number of types of therapy styles and techniques to suit each individual person. For example, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be used to retrain a person's way of thinking to help them cope with stress or fear surrounding a particular problem. Psychodynamic Therapy will help a person consider how their personality and life experiences influence their current thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviour.
My therapeutic approach will help you to deal with your thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgemental environment, empowering and enabling you to make positive changes in your life.
