About me

Is life feeling overwhelming? Are things not quite right and you don’t know why? Or do you have a pretty good idea what’s going on, but you don’t know what to do about it or where to start? If any of these questions resonate with you, then counselling can help.

About me

BACP registered with 17 years experience, I am a Relational Integrative Counsellor working with clients who come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Whether it’s because of feeling stuck, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, stress, anger, parenting concerns, loss and change, bereavement, a life crisis, low self-esteem and confidence and personal/self-development. Whatever the reasons, I firmly believe that a therapeutic relationship can help to navigate these more challenging times.

Working at a pace that feels right for you, I offer a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive space for you to talk through what’s on your mind.

Compassion, curiosity and mindfulness sit at the heart of my approach, so I will want to hear about your world and your relationships and how they have shaped you and your life.

By being truly heard, we will uncover what is important to you and what might be getting the way of you reconnecting with yourself and your life. With a view to using such insights and clarity to redirect your life in a more meaningful and authentic way.

TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Training

I am a fully qualified Relational Integrative Counsellor who trained at the University of Wales, Newport obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative) in 2009, accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

The core aspects of this training blend together elements of Humanistic, Relational, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

In 2021, I completed a Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling with Counselling Tutor who has been awarded Quality Checked training recognition by the National Counselling Society.

Experience

Originally training with Cruse Bereavement Care in both the Bristol and Bath offices alongside my formal training, I qualified in 2009 and set up my private practice, Applegreen Counselling, in Central Bath in 2010.  Applegreen Counselling

I have since built my practice working in person with clients in Bath and also online with clients dispersed throughout the UK and Europe. I also currently provide counselling services to Adoptions West.

Previous experience also includes working with the University of Bath, University of Bath Spa and University of the West of England (UWE) in the roles of Specialist Mentor and Wellbeing Practitioner. As well as working as a Facilitator with BathMind.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
