Praxis Care has been providing counselling and support services for over 30 years. Our counsellors are members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP and/or members of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapists (BABCP). They are also accredited or working towards accreditation and attend clinical supervision on a monthly basis.
Praxis Care is now expanding our Counselling service to meet the challenge of the Improved Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) and to include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), in order to meet the National Institute for Clinical Excellence's (NICE) guidelines on mental health.
Our counsellors are qualified to work with the the following issues:-
Depression and Low Mood, Anxiety and Stress, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (we have a particular speciality in this area), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety, Low self-Esteem, Anger Management, Assertion, Panic Attacks and Agoraphobia, Relationship Breakups (for individuals), Bereavement Issues, Health Anxiety, Suicide Ideation, Employment Issues, Debt, Abuse, Addiction, Sexuality, Self-Harm, Eating Disorders and Sleeping Problems.
Training, qualifications & experience
The majority of our counsellors/psychotherapists will be educated to MSc and degree level. Minimum standard in counselling/psychotherapy will be at a Diploma level.
Cognitive Therapy qualifications will have been obtained from an accredited BACP or BABCP course. The therapists will either be accredited in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) or be members of BABCP and working towards accreditation.
Our counsellors/psychotherapists also must keep up-to-date with their learning and training by attending workshops etc - 30 hours continual professional development (CPD).
Praxis care aims to provide counselling to an excellent standard. Therefore, all our counsellors must adhere and work to the National Institute's for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommendations.

Other areas of counselling we deal with
We can work with minor eating difficulties. In the case of Anorexia Nervosis, Binge-Eating Disorder and Bulimia Nervosa clients should be under medical care.
Our fees are:
£25 per hour (unemployed)
£40 per hour (employed)
We also provide telephone counselling and are skilled in CBT Trauma Focused therapy.
