Polly Wong, Registered Member MBACP
Are you looking for a supportive, calm and compassionate space where you can talk about difficult feelings? I offer friendly, confidential, professional support in a welcoming setting where you can safely explore whatever is causing you concern. My approach is respectful, warm and non-judgmental.
There are many reasons people may come to Counselling. None of us are immune from facing challenges, difficulties or distress in our lives. Counselling can feel very different to talking to friends or family. To be listened to and heard with acceptance and understanding, by a skilled professional, can support you to explore and find ways of coping with challenging emotions, relationships, circumstances or life events you are experiencing.
I am an Integrative Humanistic Therapist. I make use of interventions from a rich range of therapies, appropriate to your unique needs. I will work with you to create a relationship between us, where you feel safe to share whatever you need to, at a pace to suit you, to deepen understanding of your individual experience. Together we can look at the choices you have in relation to the changes you want to make. I hope that you will gain a clearer understanding of yourself, your relationships with others, or the troubles you are experiencing and can make choices which enable you to live your life in a happier, more meaningful or more fulfilling way.
Approaching a Counsellor can feel daunting. My aim is to put you at ease and find out exactly what you hope to get from Counselling. I invite you to ask me questions so you get a clear idea of how I work and whether I am the right person for you to work with. To help with this I offer a free, 25 minute introductory consultation over the telephone or face to face, as you prefer.
Short term or longer term Talking Therapy for Adults and Young People (over the age of 16).
Face to face sessions available in comfortable, accessible premises in Bishopthorpe, York.
Counselling is also available by Telephone, Skype or FaceTime. Home visits by arrangement.
Warm, accepting and non-judgmental support to explore any difficulty causing you concern.
I aim to work at a pace and depth that feels right to you, for as few or as many sessions as you like.
I welcome contact from you, even if you would simply like to talk through whether you feel counselling might help you.
