About me

Hello and welcome to the profile for Phillip Skelton.

I am a qualified Person Centred Therapeutic Counsellor and I adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework. www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework

The counselling I provide creates a safe, empathic environment and sensitive space for a person to explore and resolve personal difficulties and limitations they may be experiencing, and to move beyond them. It can also help to enhance your relationship/connection with yourself and others.

The Person Centred approach ensures that you remain empowered and that you choose the direction and pace during the therapeutic process. Your best interest is always held as the highest priority alongside fully respecting your right to confidentiality.

I believe that counselling can offer you the opportunity for positive change and growth, and helps you to deal with life’s challenges more effectively and confidently.

I can relate to the feeling that taking the first steps to talking about difficult feelings and situations, and choosing a counsellor may be daunting. However, as you are reading my profile suggests you have already taken the first steps in seeking the benefits of counselling.

Integral to the working relationships we develop is my commitment, respect and positive open-mindedness towards you.

I am also Director for Inner Resources Ltd, which provides high-level support for vulnerable adults, and young people who have social, behavioural and mental health difficulties. I also support the families of vulnerable people, especially in times of crisis and I am experienced in working with their extended professional network.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
