Penny Noble MBACP Accred
My name is Penny Noble. I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and have accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am a member of the UKRCP.. I have been practising in London since 2001 as a trainee, then volunteering for various charities before becoming self-employed in private practice.
I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
My Personal Approach
I work as a humanistic counsellor and psychotherapist. The core of my approach is the person-centred model, however I will bring in other approaches within my experience and knowledge as and when I feel it may be useful to each individual client. The way I see it we collaborate to develop the therapeutic approach that will work for you. I have experience and training in working with images, experientially and at the level of the transpersonal. I also offer inner child work. Recently I have incorporated the new Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my work; it fits well with the ethos of my therapeutic way of being.
I provide a warm, holding, compassionate, open and receptive space for you to voice all you feel you need to express and will contain us both in that space for as long as you require for our work together and the part of your journey with me. I offer you empathy, acceptance, genuine care and understanding from a wealth of personal and client experience.
I feel the key to successful therapy is the quality of the relationship we build together, which in turn enables you to build a good, close or in touch relationship with yourself and hence with others.
Counselling/Psychotherapy: What are they?
“Therapy for Your Psyche”
I see the purpose of counselling and psychotherapy as a journey to the inner you. Talking about your thoughts and feelings helps you to an understanding of yourself through which you gain increased self-awareness and knowledge as to who you are, how you are and where you would like to go in life.
As your counsellor or therapist, I see myself as your companion on that journey and sometimes a guide. I am with you as a compassionate witness, a support, a caring presence and a solid base to help you feel safe to express all you feel the need or wish to in order to develop, overcome difficulties and grow to your full potential.
It is an incredible journey; at times painful and hard work, at times thrilling and exciting, at times celebratory, at times peaceful and calm; emotional in many ways and always with new aspects of yourself to discover and as with many journeys with choices to make about where to go and how to get there. Ultimately it is as much about what you learn on the way as the arriving.
How Counselling Can Help
Person-Centred Counselling (PCA) is a very empowering therapy. PCA is non-directive, compassionate, non-judgemental and provides a presence of unconditional love and holding. It enables you to safely explore and heal past traumas. You gain a great awareness of yourself, feel empowered by your understanding of yourself and why you are how you are, and can take responsibility and action on your own behalf. It is not a quick fix, but is usually lasting in relation to you feeling able to manage yourself and your life.

Areas of Specialism
I have experience of working with many issues. I have also worked with people from wide ranging backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities and ages. I feel each of us is truly individual in terms of our life experience, culture and how we respond to issues which means to me that each of us requires our own special form of therapy. I have developed particular skills in working with the impacts of psychological, physical and sexual abuse as well as depression, disability, post traumatic stress disorder and relationship difficulties. I also specialise in work with creative people who struggle to share and show their talents in public as a result of issues such as low self-esteem or confidence or other psychological blocks in accessing their full emotionally expressive potential.
I have been working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse since 2001. I have also counselled people who have been physically and emotionally abused. My way of working is with the aim to empower the client in their own healing and encourage them to be the authority on themselves. I have specialist training from several sources including working for organisations run for survivors of childhood sexual abuse and physical/emotional abuse towards women. I also have life experience that has drawn me to this work.
