Penny Humble FdA MBACP
We all have times when we need to talk to someone. Someone who will listen and not judge, give a safe space to explore feelings and find a way through. I can provide that space. I am a BACP accredited counsellor. Face to face and Online counselling offered. One hour session £40. Concessions available.
Most people will come to a point, somewhere during their life journey, where things don't seem to be going to plan. Maybe you are struggling to move on after a bereavement or other life-changing event? Maybe anger from the past is clouding your life and enjoyment of the present? Maybe you have debilitating lack of confidence, which is preventing you from getting the most out of your life? All these plus depression, anxiety, addictions and disordered eating are just a few of the areas with which counselling can help. I will work with you to explore whichever issues you wish to bring, empathically and without judgement. I aim to provide an affordable, down-to-earth and friendly service to help you work through your problems, understand whatever it is that is holding you back, and offer emotional support as you make the changes that you need to make. I work in an integrative way, drawing from whichever of my skills seems most helpful. For more details please see my website (link above). There are also a variety of articles on my blog, which I hope you will find interesting and informative.
Face to Face Counselling
This takes place at my home in Highnam, in my private and cosy garden log cabin (which is insulated and has heating, lighting and air conditioning) It is a very peaceful setting in which to work together.
I truly believe in this. When I was working as a Samaritan our branch had just started to use email as a way of supporting callers. I was very impressed by the way this was reaching people who otherwise would never have accessed the service, people who were too daunted to come face to face or even talk on the phone, but they could email us and we could support them that way.
Online counselling takes this support a step further by using secure, online chat so that I can support you in real time just as I would face to face, but with the added anonymity of the internet which can really help some people to open up without the paralysing effects of inhibition. Online counselling is especially useful for people who are housebound or find it difficult to get around. Of course it also has the advantage that you don't have to live nearby! Alternatively we can work by email exchange; whereby one email represents one hour and is charged the same; £40. This has the advantage of not having to commit to a certain time, for example if you have an unpredictable schedule, you can just email me when it suits you (we will agree an approximate day when I will expect your email), and I reply within 24 hours. It is usual to have roughly one week between email exchanges but if you prefer something other than this we can discuss it.
Whichever way you choose to access my service, I can provide a time and space to explore and understand whatever it is that is troubling you.
