About me

Hi my name is Penny and I am an experienced qualified registered Counsellor. Are you looking for support during a difficult time in your life? Feeling exhausted and unable to move forward with your feelings? Feeling little or no control in your life?

Most of us at some time in our life will experience situations that we find difficult to cope with. Sometimes we get to a point where we can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel and become overwhelmed with difficulties that are so challenging resulting in feeling extremely alone and stuck with no answers. It feels difficult to share with others so moving forward seems difficult or impossible resulting in feeling anxious and depressed with low self esteem and lacking motivation.

This is where I believe counselling can make such a difference.

I am a warm and empathic person-centred counsellor though I do integrate other approaches depending on the issues you are struggling with. I have a gentle but effective approach working with all age groups with a variety of issues including anxiety, stress, depression, sexual abuse, OCD,eating disorders, bereavement and relationship issues.

I work with individuals where one to one therapy provides an excellent opportunity to work through the difficulties you are struggling with while feeling listened to and feeling understood. Also couples counselling where I work with couples helping them work successfully through their relationship issues. Providing a safe trusting place where you can explore and begin to make sense of each other's feelings while feeling heard and understood.

I offer a dedicated private counselling room, providing a confidential and safe space for you to explore all feelings without being judged so you feel listened to, valued and understood. It will be a place where you’ll have the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings while in a safe comfortable environment with support and encouragement to gain some balance back in your life. Helping you find within the strength to make the changes needed to move forward with your life.

I also offer online therapy and telephone therapy for those that find it difficult to get to me.

Having been through issues in my own life I fully appreciate the courage it takes to make this step in coming for counselling and feel it would be a privilege for me to work with you.

I offer a consultation where you can come and meet me and share the issues you’re struggling with. This I find helps you feel more settled to start your sessions. I can also answer any questions you may have by telephone or email.

I also work with trainee counsellors providing counselling therapy throughout their training.

I am also a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) And work within their ethical framework. This ensures you receive the best standard of practice at all times.

I look forward to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
