About me

Hi

Welcome to my page. YOU are very important to me.

My purpose as a person-centred counsellor is to help you live a more fulfilling and happy life and overcome the challenges you are currently facing.

You deserve to be listened to, most importantly heard, guided and supported through this period of your life.

Counselling can benefit your life in so many ways and by introducing you to some tools and techniques which you can learn to use everyday will enable you to learn to accept and manage your feelings. It is okay not to feel okay.

I am passionate about developing people and empowering you to be the person you want to be and feel how you want to feel! You may need to work through anxiety issues, school, college or university pressures, relationship issues, depression, feelings of worthlessness, low self esteem, work related stress, dealing with elderly parents, bereavement, post traumatic stress disorder or other issues that are resulting in you feeling low in yourself.

My approach to counselling is to work with you in the here and now. Person-centred means you lead the way and we work from your starting point to reach the outcome you desire.

A therapist can enhance your life in so many ways and enable you to look at things differently. Once you allow yourself the time and space to explore your emotions things will start to feel more manageable. When your feeling low it can be lonely and isolating but please be comforted by knowing I am here to help you and can offer that safe place that you need right now.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have vast experience not only as a counsellor but as an educator and youth worker. Therefore, I can offer a range of services from one to one, couples counselling, self help groups, family mediation along with parent and teenager sessions.

My qualifications are:

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Higher Education diploma in Youth and Community
  • BA (hons) Education and Professional Development
  • Adult Teachers Certificate
  • Leadership and Management
  • Supervision

I studied post-traumatic stress disorder in the military and have supported ex-service people along with their families.

My studies have included Gestalt Therapy which is very much focused on dealing with the here and now.

I have vast knowledge, experience and expertise working with children, young people, adults and couples, and spent time working in a women's centre and family mediation.

I have been a qualified counsellor since 1999. Much of this time I have worked in the world of education and business so have a good solid understanding of how stress can impact on daily living thus leading to more serious emotional well being issues.

I teach counselling qualifications, along with mindset and emotional resilience to a range of people from young people to leaders of companies. This is because I believe everyone deserves to lead a lifestyle of their choice.

As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists my practice is in line with the ethical framework and I offer a safe environment for all my clients.

I hold an enhanced DBS and have worked with vulnerable children, young people and adults for over 20 years.

Supervision is important for me to access on a monthly basis to ensure I am consistently working at my best self to ensure you receive the highest possible service.

I have supported people dealing with:

  • Bereavement
  • Suicide
  • Self harm
  • Low self esteem
  • Self worth

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
