About me

Hello and thank you for stopping to read my profile

If you are looking for a counsellor to share your worries and anxieties with, I would be happy to listen and support you. If you suffer from low self esteem and want to feel more confident, I will help you to explore why you feel so low and help you to discover what is stopping you feel your best version of yourself.

I will offer you a safe non judgmental space to help you find the courage to open up and talk about your difficulties.

I will support and empower you on your journey to a happier way of managing your anxieties, depression, thoughts, feelings or life situations and the difficulties you may be facing.

Every journey is different, unique and individual. Each session may vary for you. Sometimes it is hard to find the words and we may look more creatively if you feel blocked or struggle to talk about your feelings as sometimes you can feel too overwhelmed to speak.

Some sessions you may feel it goes so quickly and there’s still so much to say. Some sessions might be difficult as you sit with some of life's difficulties. It does get easier and you will be able to find the words. Being honest with how you feel will help you heal and find a way forward.

Each session is 50 minutes of a safe space that safely helps and supports your thoughts and feelings. These may include your anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma, low self esteem, grief/ loss/ bereavement, relationship difficulties/abuse and breakups, feeling lost and wanting to find a sense of purpose and direction in your life.

You are not alone.

For those of you who may feel daunted by counselling, please feel rest assured, it is safe and a really empowering experience. It can be painful at first when you are sitting with feelings you’ve not wanted to sit with, but you will move through this feeling, into a better space of understanding your thoughts and feelings or you may be able to accept and move forward out of your current feelings and situations.

Counselling can be a relief as you let out all your stored thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Some of you maybe looking for a space to talk about losing a love one or life’s losses. I’m hear to listen and support you

If you have not had Counselling before, or you're unsure about the benefits of counselling and how it works, I will explain and answer questions you may have.

It can feel scary reaching out especially to someone you don’t know at first, but I hope to help you feel at ease and support you through your therapy sessions. Counselling is an empowering experience and I look forward to supporting you while you work through your feelings and move forward in your life and find happiness or finding acceptance in some situations of your life.

I can help you with coping strategies to help you manage your thoughts, feelings and actions that may be hard for you to manage without insight as to why you may feel a certain way.

A counsellor does not tell you what to do. We reflect your thoughts and feelings to you (like a mirror) We simply help you get your life back on track and help you feel in control of yourself and life and to feel empowered and able to manage what life may throw at you.

We all have the power to heal ourselves from within, and a counsellor will guide you to find your own power to manage yourself and the situations around you.

I am glad you are considering counselling, and I look forward to meeting you.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Registered Member MBACP
  • Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling
  • Hospice Bereavement Training
  • Secondary School Counsellor
  • Healthcare Support Worker

I have experience working with adults and teenagers.
I use my skills to determine what works best for each individual person I see.

I am empathetic non judgmental and offer you a safe space to talk and to be listened too.

I can use talking / drawing therapy for clients who struggle to find the words to express their thoughts and feelings if they feel comfortable to do so.

It is important you feel comfortable with the counsellor you choose as you are sharing sensitive thoughts and feelings therefore you need to find a counsellor you feel safe to open up with.

So I would like to tell you a little about me and my experience to give you a sense of whether you feel safe enough to work with me, as this is very important for you.

I am a mum of grown up children and a nan. My background has mainly been nursing. I am a healthcare worker. I have worked in many settings including Mental health, forensic, palliative (Hospice nursing and as a bereavement counsellor), general and surgical nursing.

I also worked in a secondary school as a school counsellor for eight years.

I work privately with adults covering lots of emotions and life traumas. These can be coping with bereavement including death, divorce and changes of environment. Low self esteem, anxiety, feeling a loss of direction or needing to be listened to and heard.

I have been a qualified counsellor for 13 years

I am a humanistic counsellor, which means I work with each client individually and sessions may vary week to week. Some people need a place to download and be listened too, while other clients want coping strategies to help them manage specific issues/ thoughts and feelings. Other clients may want to draw or use gestalt methods or CBT.

For those of you reading my profile who want to know the types of counselling that may come into your therapy are; Carl Rogers, which is person centred. Gestalt (more creative) and Jung

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I work online and in Larkfield.

Parking is generally easy.

I work individually with each person as we all think and feel and process our thoughts differently. We come from different backgrounds with different upbringings. Person centred counselling helps you to find the courage to move forward.

Carl Rogers believed...  All humans were capable of becoming a whole person through self discovery. The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

The Gestalt theory emphasises that the whole of anything is greater than its parts.
