About me

I am a friendly approachable counsellor, I am here to support and guide you through your current way of being.

I will support you in working through what's going on for you, providing you with coping techniques and strategies, if needed. I can provide you with a space to understand and recognise your needs.

I explain counselling in an everyday way, what you are currently experiencing may be coming from a build-up of life events or you are not feeling like your normal self.

I will support you in breaking down and understanding what's been going on for you, understand what's been getting in your way to progress, and help you focus on what is important in your life.

I see counselling as an opportunity to explore your needs and recognise the whole of you - working with you holistically to explore your mental, emotional and physical health needs as well as your general wellbeing in all areas of life i.e. home, work and relationships.

I adapt my knowledge, skills and experience to your individual needs. The space is yours to express what you need in a safe and comfortable environment. This can enable you to work through and understand how to cope, and adjust in your unique way and time and find a way forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified to BSc degree (level 6) in Therapeutic Counselling taken at Leeds Beckett University (2021-23) and graduated in 2023.  I qualified to diploma level 4 in 2008 and level 5 in 2010.

I have 16 years of experience working in a variety of settings, volunteering with Cruse Bereavement Care and New College Nottingham. I have worked in  Counsellor positions at SYEDA (South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association) in Sheffield, Nottinghamshire Mind and CARE Fertility.

I have been running my private practice since January 2010.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
