Paul Thorley-Ryder Counsellor & Supervisor (MBACP, PG Cert Supervision)
My name is Paul and I am here to help you, using a person-centred approach to understand how you feel, and to help you make the changes you need for positive growth. I am a professionally qualified, BACP-accredited and registered counsellor with almost 10 years’ experience.
Counselling is traditionally face to face, weekly for about an hour, or we can work online, by phone or via email or instant messaging. However, I find that face to face sessions are most beneficial to clients, so this is recommended wherever possible.
I focus on the development of your awareness, and this is a fluid process that I will guide you through. You will be in charge of the process, I will accompany you in the exploration, with the support and encouragement you need for this journey. It can be short term, lasting two or three sessions, or it may involve regular meetings for a number of months, depending on the complexity of your situation. Importantly, you choose when the journey is complete.
When I work with you as your counsellor, I will provide you with a confidential and safe space to talk about your problem or issue without judgement. You are free to explore your ideas and feelings, and discover your own way into change. As your counsellor I will not label you, judge, advise or diagnose. Then you can talk and learn more, and as you gain more depth into yourself, the process of awareness fuels your change. This way, the growth is personal to you, you'll feel empowered, and the changes are believable, real, because they are uniquely yours.
Contact me when you feel you want to discuss your needs or your aims for your time in counselling. Together we can explore how working together will help you with the difficulties you face today.
I am also a qualified counselling supervisor and can offer integrative/humanistic counselling supervision, and systemic and learning cycle approaches to supervision to other professionals from other disciplines. Please call me to discuss how I can support your well-being at work whilst enhancing your reflection on the development of your ethical and professional practice. I receive regular consultant supervision of my supervision practice and am working towards BACP senior accreditation.
