Paul Gregory Associates Ltd
Based centrally in the cathedral city of Chichester, Paul Gregory Associates Ltd is a professional organisation of experienced male and female practitioners. Therapeutic casework is assessed and managed centrally and all therapists are qualified, experienced, accredited and registered with a recognised professional organisation e.g. BACP (or working towards) and receive qualified mode-appropriate supervision. We aim to deliver the most effective treatments by matching clients with the most suitable therapist.
At Paul Gregory Associates Ltd, we have introduced a new and exciting approach to delivering our services. We believe that clients deserve the utmost dignity and respect at what could be a very difficult, and crucial, time in their lives. Therefore we aim for transparency within what could be a complex, possibly daunting, life-changing process. In so doing, we mean to co-create the confidence and hope necessary to help a client improve their own psychological well-being.
Welcome. Tell us what we can do for you...or come and let us find out together.
At the initial consultation, your assessor will help you through some key questions in order to understand your particular needs. Then, once agreed, your assessor will involve you in the allocation of your therapist. The assessors will marry their expertise with your knowledge of yourself to help you find an effective therapeutic relationship with a skilled qualified and experienced counsellor or psychotherapist. When you call the number above, your therapy has already begun. Paul Gregory Associates Ltd will continue to manage your case until you feel you are ready to let go. We offer both experienced male and female practitioners to help you find the most effective psychotherapeutic relationship for you. You are the expert on you. We are only experts on what we do. Call or email to book an appointment - or just to ask a question. We say there are no such things as silly questions...just silly answers!

What is EMDR therapy?
This relatively new therapy is an innovative clinical treatment which has successfully helped over a million people who have experienced psychological difficulties originating from some kind of traumatic experience, such as sexual abuse, childhood neglect, road traffic accidents and violence. It is an effective, complex method of psychotherapy which integrates many of the successful elements of a range of therapeutic approaches , and combines them with eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation in ways which influence the brain's information processing systems. Many clients (especially children) prefer bilateral stimulation through specialist handheld tactile tappers (buzzers) or through earphones instead. The approach is one of the most effective therapies currently being delivered to returning servicemen, disaster victims, and private clients through esteemed Harley Street trauma clinics (London) and internationally. Normally, the individual processes positive and negative experiences naturally. However, when a person is severely traumatized, either by an overwhelming event or by being repeatedly subjected to distress, this natural healing process may become overloaded, leaving the original disturbing experiences unprocessed. These unprocessed memories can be stored in the brain in a "raw" form where they can be continually re-evoked when experiencing events that are similar to the original experience. The approach utilizes the body's natural healing ability and allows the brain to heal psychological problems at the same rate as the rest of the body heals physical ailments. Because this approach allows the mind and body to heal at the same rate, treatment can be rapid. The number of sessions required will vary according to the complexity of the issues being dealt with. In general, the more isolated the traumatic memory being treated, the shorter the treatment tends to be [ref. EMDR Europe].
This approach is recognised by NICE (National Institute of Health & Clinical Excellence) as, along with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), the most effective psychotherapeutic treatment of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as defined in DSM V (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). NICE provide evidence-based guidance and advice for health, public health (NHS) & social health practitioners in UK. Paul Gregory Associates Ltd are proud to offer you a qualified and experienced EMDR (Europe) Accredited therapist from our team here at Forum House. Accredited child appropriate treatment also offered. For more info, please click here to visit EMDR Association website (UK).
Brainspotting is an even more recent approach born of the EMDR movement. This new psychotherapy is, like EMDR, based on the observation of (and subsequent manipulation of) eye movements to change emotional activation in the client. Some describe the effects as more profound even than with EMDR - some as "more gentle". Brainspotting theory is underpinned by the latest neuroscience research. A very interesting offshoot of EMDR gathering momentum in USA, South America and Europe.
“Brainspotting is based on the profound attunement of the therapist with the patient, finding a somatic cue and extinguishing it by down-regulating the amygdala. It isn’t just PNS (Parasympathetic Nervous System) activation that is facilitated, it is homeostasis.” – Robert Scaer, MD, “The Trauma Spectrum”
