About me

There are times in life when it may feel hard to cope with everyday life on our own. Perhaps times when we don't feel understood, heard or received within relationships or when we've experienced loss or other types of trauma such as abuse. Consequently all sorts of symptoms may arise when this happens, e.g. depression, post traumatic stress disorder, grief. My service welcomes and provides counselling/psychotherapy to people who need a safe secure space in which they feel able to explore their feelings. A save secure space in which they feel received, heard and understood.

I offer an Initial Appointment which is 1 1/2 hours. This is an introductory session which incorporates discussing the client's presenting problem as well as historical knowledge about the client. If the client wishes to proceed after the Initial Appointment, I offer 50 minute individual counselling/therapy sessions which will occur on the same day at the same time every week. These sessions are agreed at times which are convenient for us both.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an FPC accredited and UKCP registered Psycho-dynamic Psychotherapist. I also have a BSc. Honours degree in Psychology.

I have ten years experience working specifically with people attempting to achieve recovery as well as those who are maintaining their recovery from alcohol and drug misuse. During this time, I have also worked in partnership within statutory, non-statutory services, the Criminal Justice system as well as working within a prison environment counselling individuals maintaining recovery.

I have organised and taught courses within schools and businesses educating students and adults not only about the effects of alcohol and drug misuse but also the various support systems available for people who are struggling to recover from addictions.

I also have over fourteen years experience working with people suffering from eating disorders, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, bereavement, abuse, etc. This includes six years working as a Counsellor/Psycho-dynamic Psychotherapist with Wessex Counselling Service and eight years working privately as a Psycho-dynamic Psychotherapist.

Within Wessex Counselling Service, I taught students on both the Agency and the Advanced Diploma Courses.
