Dr Pamela Lawson, Counselling Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor
Highgate Consulting Rooms
West Hill House
6 Swain's Lane
I offer brief therapy (6-20 sessions) for clients requiring targeted support on specific issues and longer term psychotherapy for clients wishing to explore issues in greater depth. In either case, I work in accordance with the client’s goals and stated needs. Together we plot a path towards an improved sense of well-being.
I also provide clinical supervision for school-based counsellors working in secondary and further education. I have over ten years experience working in the field and recently completed a doctoral dissertation on managing therapeutic boundaries in inner-city secondary schools. I am a fully qualified supervisor, registered with the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a doctorate in counselling psychology and integrative psychotherapy conferred by Middlesex University and accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I hold a Metanoia Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I also have a Diploma in Working with Adolescents (WPF Therapy) and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). In addition, I hold a graduate diploma in psychology, an MA in linguistics and a BA in art history.

I have considerable experience working with adults and adolescents in a variety of community settings. I was a senior team member of a local bereavement charity for over six years. I have also worked at a women’s health service with survivors of loss, abuse and trauma and two community mental health settings offering support to those with personality disorder and other complex mental health needs. I have worked as a school counsellor in two inner London secondary schools and as a telephone counsellor for Childline. I was also the clinical services manager for a school counselling service for two years and currently provide group and individual supervision to school counsellors. In addition to maintaining a busy private practice, I also work as a student counsellor at the London Contemporary Dance School.
