Hello, and welcome to Counselling with EN.
My Philosophy is: - “You Come, You Talk, You Grow, You Go” (and start moving forward in your life).
We all lead contrasting lives and each of us may experience emotional inconveniences that divert our inner happiness but we are all capable of finding different routes towards conflicts and resolutions. Counselling can give you the tools to explore these challengers and help you develop strategies to move forward.
Are you struggling with a breakdown in communication with your partner, family member, friend or other?
Do you feel that you are invisible?, Not being heard?, Not achieving your potential in life?
Struggling with a loss?
EN stands for Ebo Nwosu and I am a highly skilled, compassionate, and empathetic professional Counsellor who is dedicated to providing a high quality, yet affordable counselling service to support individuals and couples seeking help with their emotional or psychological needs.
My aim is to provide you with a safe confidential space to share and to work through whatever is troubling you; whether it is around Personal, Family or, a Professional Relationship.
I am a qualified BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) registered counsellor and my approaches are Humanistic, Person Centred and Gestalt.
Humanistic – Humanistic counselling supports you with developing self acceptance and ways of responding to life’s events, which build self-esteem and confidence, therefore enabling you to feel empowered in your daily life and the challenges this may present.
Person Centred - Based on individual thoughts, feelings, experiences and identifying issues; whilst exploring how you may overcome them. This can be done through reflection and a conscious understanding on how to find a solution while feeling safe in a non-judgemental environment.
Gestalt - This approach deals with the ‘Here and Now’. It looks at your present feelings and thoughts and helps you respond to your true emotions, whilst addressing the fears of "What If....."
I also specialise in:
Couple Counselling – Relationships are not always plain sailing, sometimes couples find themselves in a situation where communication has broken down and they may find it very difficult to express their true feelings. These conflicts can have a knock on effect not only on the individual but also on the extended family. Whether the issue is infidelity, control, complacency, jealousy or mistrust, couples can find themselves feeling isolated, angry and alone.
How can counselling help?
Breakdown of communication can be distressing and counselling can provide a platform for each individual to explore their fears and emotions without interruption whilst being given the opportunity to be heard. As a Relate counsellor with many years experience in couple therapy, I can support you to open a constructive dialogue to gain an awareness of the other person’s perspective and look at ways to address relationship problems.
Some people think it is a brave move to come to counselling, but most individuals and couples agree that "it was one of the best moves I have ever made and it saved my relationship / marriage".
Bereavement - Are you dealing with difficult emotions around a terminally ill relative or friend and feeling helpless, numb, sad, guilty, lost and confused. We all have different ways in coping with bereavement and there is no set time period in the healing process. You can find yourself bewildered with all the different feelings and in some cases find it hard to manage everyday life. Sometimes a loss can be sudden and unexpected leaving you with a void and sense of loneliness. Sometimes we find ourselves thinking of our loved ones and not being able to move forward, even though time has passed and you feel stuck.
How can counselling help?
Through counselling, I will support you to identify and recognise the various stages that you may be experiencing (denial, anger, blame, bargaining, resentment) enabling you to grieve in your time, with the aim to find peace and acceptance.
Stress/ Anxiety/ Depression– Are you suffering with any of these symptoms:
Loss of appetite
Stress is not only a mental issue but can also have a physical effect on your wellbeing. Pressures of life can cause stress and anxiety and this can manifest into depression, which can have devastating results. Identifying the cause can be addressed, as it can be related to past issues that can be triggered through a memory that you thought was dormant or a recent event that you might be finding hard to deal with.
How can counselling help?
There is no quick fix for stress related problems; however, you can find the mechanism to be able to cope. By identifying the underlining issue through counselling you can gain the tools which will help you recognise the triggers, and take control, through changing a negative outlook to a positive one. As a counsellor, I can help you find the best solution which will suit your individual needs.
Addiction –Although, this can manifest into a physical condition, it is also a state of mind that although pleasurable initially, with continuous use becomes compulsive and then interferes with life’s daily responsibilities. This can be through substance misuse, gambling, sex, or even shopping. Addiction will result in becoming a habit that is beyond your control and can have devastating consequences. Addiction becomes a vicious circle and without mindset and behavioural changes, the cycle continues.
How can counselling help?
I can provide you with a breathing space, where you can address your fears of the unknown, manage your compulsive behaviours and identify the triggers that caused the addiction in the first place. By becoming self-aware, you can start to work on acknowledging the need to change and finding a way to live life on life’s terms without the use of negative influences.
Counselling can help in many ways through discussion and exploration with the help of an independent professional in a non- judgemental and guaranteed confidential environment. With 'Counselling with EN', you will be assured of a sensitive and reassuring welcome. This will be carried out in a gentle and safe practice, with traditional therapy and creative techniques for you to gently discover, heal and apply choices. You will be provided with the space to build and gain an inner peace and overcome negative emotions that can overwhelm your wellbeing.
My Mission Statement is to provide:
Couples and individual counselling with the aim to create and promote diversity, equal opportunities, creativity and growth.
To provide clients with the tools they need to develop new resolutions in order to face their difficulties that may be happening in their relationships or other environments.
To offer exploration in depth and discover any underlying issues.
To take an honest look at client’s current feeling and thoughts in order to make changes, with the aim to help the client move forward.
To, in a safe environment, help clients explore and take control of their life and find purpose and meaning.
To make sense of recent feelings of chaos / worries and reflect on ways to address and cope with present overwhelming emotions.
Individuals and Couples are genuinely surprised when we start working together. They originally may start off feeling nervous and apprehensive but once we have started the work they find that they really start to enjoy it and gain tools which will help them to move forward in the future.
I have worked for many years with adults and young people around a wide variety of issues and have helped them move forward in their lives. As well as my own private practice I have also worked as a Relate counsellor and have many years experience in this field.
"One phone call could change your life for the better".
