About me

I abide by the Code and Ethics of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Open Counselling is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 9.00pm. Alternatively there is a 24 hour answering machine and I will call you back as soon as possible.

Whatever is worrying you or affecting your life, please feel to call me and have an initial conversation. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor here to help you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a therapist who upholds clear values in counselling and psychotherapy. I help adults and young people overcome a vast spectrum of challenges.

My counselling is guided by both ethical and moral standards to keep your best interests and needs at the forefront of the counselling process.

I am personally committed to and embrace the core values of integrative therapy, giving you the confidence to know the process, approach of counselling you are entering into.

I believe therapy is a process to aid the individual in the self-discovery of purposeful and meaningful life decisions. By realizing for oneself, with the help and guidance of a counsellor, individuals are more likely to own the positive change that occurs in their life and continue moving forward with this long after counselling has concluded.

Contact Open Counselling now to discuss the counselling process and your specific needs.

Further information

Person Centred Therapy is an empowering therapy which helps clients to  work through their issues and find the strength and resilience inside  themselves to move forward.

The therapy is based on the vital core conditions of any fully  functioning relationship. These are unconditional acceptance of the other  person, empathy, non- judgement and the ability to be genuine. I also believe  that the client needs a safe place to come and address their issues.

Whether my clients come to me for 6 weeks or 2 years, they are given  the space and time to heal. I deal with many difficulties that people cope  with in today’s world from drug and alcohol abuse to depression, domestic abuse  to life issues.

The feedback from my clients has always been very positive, feeling  welcomed and supported when coming to Open Counselling.

Face to Face and Telephone counselling

All of my services are confidential except if someone is in danger

Difficulties addressed:

  • Having to learn to  live together again, especially when children are involved
  • Financial concerns
  • Sexual anxieties
  • Worry of re-offending
  • Employment issues
  • Worries about  re-occurring drug or alcohol use
  • Losing the  independence gained while a partner was in prison

This service can offer offenders the opportunity to talk about how these  kinds of issues may be affecting them and their families, offering strategies  to help smooth the transition back into community life.

School Counselling:

In addition  to Open Counselling’s Agency in Hertfordshire, we can also provide off site  counselling.  We provide  counsellors to work within the school setting. Open Counselling will guide the  school through the process, and provide all the appropriate documentation to  the school. Our Director  and lead counsellor provides counselling to various local schools.

How Many Sessions?

For some clients very few sessions  are needed and change and positive outcomes can happen very quickly. For  others, longer term therapy may be desired.

For counselling clients the average  number of sessions is around 8-12. But we do have the occasional longer term client where broader work is required.
