About me

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist working in the NHS alongside my private therapy practice.  I have over 7 years experience providing support and psychological therapy to clients, carers and families. I work with adults for short-term psychological interventions (1-6 months).

I believe that change is always possible, and that people are doing the best they can to manage the situation that they are in. In my work I aim to help people broaden and develop their ways of managing difficult situations, so that they can get back to living the life they want to live.

Please see my website www.drbreen.co.uk or contact me for more information.

What type of therapy do you offer?

I offer a range of therapeutic approaches, depending on what you wish to work on. These include cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness practice, acceptance and commitment therapy and systemic therapy. The type of approach we use can be discussed at our first meeting.

Common difficulties that I work with include:

  • Low mood and depression

  • Unmanageable worry and anxiety problems

  • Stress management

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Emotional eating and drinking

  • Family and relationship problems

I specialise in working with physical health problems. Living with physical illness can limit your ability to live the life you want to live, causing difficulties at work, in relationships, with socialising and daily living, and with self-esteem. Therapy can help people to better understand these difficulties, and develop strategies for leading a meaningful life for the future.

I offer therapy for people living with conditions including:

  • Stroke

  • Traumatic brain injury

  • Parkinson’s disease

  • Chronic heart conditions

  • Epilepsy

  • HIV

  • Sickle cell disease

  • Chronic pain

  • Sleep apnoea
