Profile
I work from quiet comfortable rooms in Kilmarnock and offer Person Centred / Emotion Focused Counselling.
This therapeutic approach is based on respect and trust for the client. It is about a working relationship without judgement or expectation intended to help you gain an understanding of your concerns.
The evidence shows that it is this relationship and understanding that informs and empowers you to make the choices that best suit you as an individual or couple. It offers both a gentle and sometimes challenging way to work but it is about the person and whatever you bring.
I work with individuals, young people (14 +years) and couples for both short and longer term counselling.
As a health professional for over 30years (now retired) I am aware that life can be very stressful. People do what they need to do ,often at personal cost, and the things that are personally important to us in our private or professional lives are often pushed to the side.
My counselling experience
In my work as a counsellor I have gained varied and valuable experience working in the voluntary sector, independently and also contractually within the NHS. I feel confident in my ability to work with either uncomplicated emotional distress or complex multiple trauma and abuse.
My premises are 1mile from the M77 allowing easy access from Glasgow, North / East Ayrshire and Ayr.
Counselling is available from Mayfield Counselling Services 7 days a week.
My work complies with BACP code of ethics, is subject to their complaints procedure and is fully insured.
My experience includes working with:
| Abuse- self harm and domestic abuse Anger issues Anxiety Bereavement Depression Guilt issues / self esteem Infertility and assisted conception Menopause- lack of libido |
Pregnancy matters including: unplanned pregnancy fetal abnormality Miscarriage Stillbirth Traumatic Delivery Stress - personal issues work related stress and performance at work Terminal illness either for individual or family concerned. |
If your concerns don't fit neatly into a labelled box or if you are uncertain whether counselling is for you it maybe useful to have a chat with no obligation. You can text or phone on:0741 354 9783
