I have always had a keen interest in psychology and counselling, and I am fascinated by how the human mind works. How I can help with your problems
We are all unique in some respects, and similar in others. My approach to therapy is solution based, which means that we talk about your goals, what you hope to achieve during your counselling and then we work together until you find a solution that works for you. I can help you to learn how to deal with depression, identity crisis, anxiety and stress disorders, emotional overeating and phobias. Although I do not work with couples, I can help individual clients to improve their current and future relationships with others.
What to expect
Your first session
The first session usually involves taking a history and getting to know a bit more about you in order to fully assess your current situation. This is an important foundation for our work and from that we can start to form a plan of action and decide where we need to focus in order to attain your goals. There will be time for you to ask questions and decide how many sessions you may want to attend. I would also encourage you to email me after your first session with any questions that you may have thought of after the initial meeting.
You will be in control of your sessions at all times and you will choose what to focus on in each session – I will help you by discussing, questioning and looking at problems from different perspectives. These perspectives usually include: the past, the present and the future, aspects of self-discovery and how you relate to others.
