Experienced psychologists and psychotherapists Dr. Matthew Shorrock and Francesca Shorrock are the founders of Oak Tree Institute for Personal & Professional Development (known as The Mind Institute, across Europe (www.themindinstitute.at). With consultancy rooms in Manchester City Centre, and Vienna [Austria], they and their teams specialise in offering quality services in psychotherapy, coaching, organisational consultancy, supervision and training.
In recent years, 'Oak Tree' has flourished following numerous invitations to offer consultancy and professional psychological commentary for British television and radio programs. Please read on below to find out a little bit more about each of us:
DR MATTHEW SHORROCK - Clinical Director
With over 20 years experience working within the helping profession, including fifteen years experience of personal development in groups and training throughout Europe and Asia, my areas of expertise include difficulties in adult relationships, complex bereavement, phobias, psychological issues relating to fertility, and working with groups. I am currently writing a book on the growing phenomena of Internet addiction, including pornography, social networking, and gaming addictions.
I would describe myself as compassionate, dynamic and grounded. I hold a firm belief that every person is individual, and has the potential to fully realise their unique qualities. I adapt my approach to meet the needs of my client, and hold the firm believe that a key part (tool) of the growth process is the actual relationship with whom I'm working.
FRANCESCA SHORROCK - Coaching Director

Originally from Austria, I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice, as well as being a mum to twins. I am also a fully qualified teacherand personal adviser withover 14 years’ experience of personal development in groups and training in the UK and in Vienna, Austria. Before joining Oak Tree Therapy & Training full-time, I worked for the local authority, supporting young people with multiple and complex issues. Over the years I have trained in psychotherapy, life-coaching and meditation.
My areas of interest and expertise include relationship difficulties, parenting skills, post natal depression, fertility issues, anxiety, eating disorders, depression and issues around self-esteem.
I see my therapeutic role as two-fold: facilitating clients to develop personal insight; and also to provide them with the tools to change and realise their individual values and goals. I believe that every person is destined to live a happy, successful and fulfilled life.
