About me

I offer individual counselling sessions in person and online via Zoom and Microsoft teams. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I was trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor, which means that I use a humanistic approach. As a person-centred counsellor, my role is not to direct, instruct or to give advice to my clients. My aim is to listen attentively, in confidence, and to be non-judgemental. I offer personal support to enable my clients to explore their inner-selves and their feelings in order to help them to achieve personal growth.

I have practised as a counsellor and supported people in various volunteer settings such as:

  • Mothers for Mothers, where I have become interested in supporting women through counselling who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, ectopic pregnancy and termination.
  • Worked as a volunteer coordinator for Changes Bristol, supporting people with mental health issues.
  • Trained and worked with TESS, supporting girls and young women affected by self-injury.
  • Trained and worked for Place2Be, counselling children in a school setting.

My counselling approach is collaborative, which can help individuals with a wide range of issues such as,  anxiety, depression, pre and post-natal depression, relationships, loss and grief, life transitions, trauma, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, lack of confidence and low self-esteem.

Counselling provides a confidential and safe space to talk about anything that may be worrying you, and can often help you to understand more about the difficult or troubling thoughts that can be a common experience at any time in our lives.

At your first session, we will talk about the reasons why you are interested in therapy and what you want to achieve from it. We will also agree on how we are going to work together. This agreement will be in writing and will be known as a therapeutic contract, which will simply set out the duration and dates of the sessions, as well as my fees. It will also include my guarantee of confidentiality.

During my sessions, sometimes I can use some elements of Mindfulness and CBT methods when relevant and appropriate to individuals needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • I completed my counselling training in 2015, and I achieved a Foundation Degree in Counselling (FdSc) from the University of Gloucestershire.

Along side my private practice, I also work for an organisation supporting young girls, women and men in Reproductive Choices.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
