Sometimes we can all find it hard to cope.
I believe counselling can help.
I am a humanistic “person-centred” counsellor - a caring and non-judgemental companion who can help you work through your problems and give you the time and space to explore your issues.
I offer non-judgmental counselling irrespective of your age, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation.
As you talk to me a respectful, trusting relationship will hopefully grow between us. This feeling of safety often allows issues to rise to the surface, issues which you may never have discussed before.
At the start of our work we will agree boundaries of confidentiality. This will give you the freedom to talk about things you may not feel comfortable or safe enough to discuss with your family or friends.
I will not tell you what to do; I will help you find your own way, seeking to draw on your own resources.
I can work with you short-term, focusing on a particular crisis you are facing, or long-term, for deeper exploration of your life and the issues you are dealing with.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified “person centred” humanistic counsellor, having completed a three year diploma in counselling at the Metanoia Institute in Ealing London. I also have a certificate in couple counselling from Metanoia.
I attend courses and workshops as part of my continuing professional development. I have certificates in anger management, eating distress, couples counselling, neuro-linguistic programming and passion / obsession.
My work experience includes voluntary counselling for Wycombe Counselling Service (MIND) for ten years and student counselling at a college in Oxford for over two years. I now focus on my private practice.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and subject to their professional conduct procedure.
I have full insurance in line with BACP requirements.

Sessions last one hour, although you can book for longer than an hour if this suits you.
Sessions cost £50 per hour.
I have found the minimum useful session length for a couple is one and a half hours - to allow each person time.
Payment can be made by cash, credit / debit card or cheque.
Although I have studied other approaches, my preferred way of working is in a Person-Centered way. This approach was developed by Dr Carl Rogers in the 1950's. It assumes we each have, within us, the ability for growth and self-understanding. My task is to offer my clients a trusting, safe place where they can be totally themselves.
