Profile
I was awarded an Integrative Advanced Diploma in Counselling in 2002 and have worked as a therapist for over ten years. I have experience of working within a variety of work settings and have been in Private Practice for over a six-year period.
I regularly work with individuals and couples who are experiencing depression, low self esteem, stress and anxiety, loss, grief, bereavement and abuse. I have also worked with individuals who are experiencing drug and alcohol addiction and have undergone specialist training for working within the area of substance abuse.
In my private work, I have a specialist interest in working with couples and clients who are experiencing relationship problems. I continue to develop my skills and abilities within this area of work by attending ongoing continuing professional development training courses.
Outside of private practice, I have previous experience of working within a variety of agencies that provide therapeutic services for the various groups within society. I have worked within an agency facilitating anger management courses for young people who present with challenging behaviours and ranging emotional problems. I have also worked with older people through the charity Age Concern and have a working knowledge of the problems experienced by this older age group.
I am presently working on a part- time basis for a charity providing a therapeutic service for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
