Profile

The business name Move Beyond Now comes from my belief that people often need help to deal with the difficulties that arise in life and move beyond where they feel they are now. The help you need can take many forms and there are often no clear divides between where one ends and another begins. Counselling focuses most directly on individuals, their problems and their needs for wholeness whilst coaching meanwhile tends to concentrate on areas where someone wants to achieve specific goals either in their personal life or often at work.

The common thread is the nature and quality of the relationships between people and the integration of each individual within themselves. I see counselling and coaching as different points on the same spectrum of helping. I have experience of both and use a blend of skills, knowledge and approaches to bring about the changes and improvements my clients need.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

My previous professional background has been focused on improving business systems and helping people to function more effectively at work, whilst my personal fascination has been with the psychology of individual differences and organisational behaviour. That drove me to complete an Honours Degree through the Open University with Psychology as its main theme and subsequently a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology to qualify me for membership of the British Psychology Society.

I completed a Master's Degree in Business Administration though the Open University Business School. Issues such as systems behaviour, management and design, coupled with creative approaches to problem solving, linked neatly with my interests in organisational psychology. I became and was for several years a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management.

Through studying for that degree, I also came across Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), completing an initial diploma and subsequently qualifing as a full practitioner. I use NLP extensively in my coaching work.

I hold a Certificate in Counselling Skills from the University of East Anglia and am completing further training leading to an Honours Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University. Successful completion of this degree will lead to full accreditation by the BACP and UKCP as a registered psychotherapeutic counsellor. I am currently a student member of the BACP and a registered trainee therapist with the UKCP.
