About me

Hello and thank you for visiting my profile.  I appreciate how difficult it is to choose a counsellor from on-line profiles so will try to describe what I am like as a person and counsellor.  I would also be very happy to talk to you on the phone if you feel this would be helpful for you in making a choice.

I am a warm, caring, kind and compassionate person and feel these qualities are reflected in my counselling sessions.  I strive to provide a nurturing and safe environment to help you feel comfortable enough to talk through what is troubling you.  There are times in everybody’s life when it is difficult to cope for all sorts of reasons, such as the effects of past experiences, relationship difficulties, feeling generally low and lacking in motivation, anxiety, problems at work or loss and bereavement.  All these things, and many more, can make us feel worried, sad, lost, helpless and leave us struggling to cope with everyday life.

I can support you in considering and exploring your own situation to develop your understanding of what is happening in your life and help you find your own ways of managing or changing things.    I have a flexible approach and can work short, medium or long term depending on your situation and individual needs and concerns.

My usual place of work is Beltinge, Herne Bay so I am very accessible from Thanet and the Canterbury and coastal area.

Whatever your reasons for coming into counselling, I would like to be there to support you. Please just telephone, text or email me and you can expect a prompt response. If you would like to give me a ring to ask any questions about what you have read or to have a brief chat to get to know me before you make an appointment, I would be very happy to do this.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
