About me

As an experienced integrative counsellor, I offer a safe therapeutic space to create opportunities to effect change for individuals, couples and young people. Counselling support can empower you to deal with a variety of issues and difficulties and help you cope with life changing events such as:

  • bereavement
  • relationship break-up
  • divorce
  • redundancy
  • loss of health etc.

Some causes of distress can be more easily identified, such as depression and anxiety related issues, but others are not quite so apparent and can often be linked to feelings of rejection, a lack of confidence and maybe issues that link back to childhood, adolescence or past events.

Over many years I have worked alongside a variety of clients, including couples, with a focus on family, work and relationship issues. I also worked for several years in a Bristol Agency specialising in counselling support for pregnancy related issues which include infertility, unplanned pregnancy, abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, birth trauma, pre-natal and post natal depression. Please visit my web-site for further information.

Training, qualifications & experience

FdSc Counselling 2010 (Distinction)
BA (Hons) Counselling 2012

My original training was humanistic with a person centred ethos. I have since developed a more integrative approach through further training and experience. This means that I draw on elements from several other modalities which I think are most suited to an individual client's needs and objectives.

As a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I adhere to their ethical framework for good practice. I undertake regular Continuing Professional Development which enables counsellors to maintain and enhance their skills after completion of training. Strict client confidentiality is assured.

I have an enhanced CRB Disclosure and am fully insured.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
