Nicola Goldstein MBACP, Dip CPCAB, Relate Trained, Cruse Bereavement Trained
I am an experienced counsellor who works with both couples and individuals. I am Relate trained and specialise in relationship/couples counselling and have extensive experience working with individuals and young people.
I have worked with clients on a variety of issues including relationship problems, communication issues, affairs, separation and divorce, sexual issues, sexuality, depression, anxiety, self harm, abuse, low self esteem, bereavement, and obsessive compulsive disorders.
Many of us at some stage in our life may find ourselves overwhelmed, stuck and not able to cope. Whether you are seeking counselling as a couple or an individual, I will offer a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental space where I will help you explore and understand your problem. I will help you identify patterns of behaviour, develop new perspectives and strategies to facilitate change, new possibilities and confidence.
I trained and currently work with Relate as a Relationship Counsellor. I worked with couples who have come to counselling for various reasons, including arguments and conflicts, communication breakdowns, affairs and infidelity, intimacy issues, sexual issues, life stage issues, sexuality and separation. Whatever path you choose to make, whether it is to explore staying together or separating, I will support both partners to explore and make sense of problems and identify what each partner needs and wants in the relationship so they can make changes if they wish to. We will together explore your issues to foster trust and respect for each other as individuals within the relationship and understand how to deal with conflicts.
I am a trained Cruse Bereavement Counsellor and have worked with several other agencies including survivors of sexual abuse agency. I have worked with many clients who have sought counselling for a variety of reasons including bereavement, anxiety, depression and low self esteem, anger, sexuality, IVF process, social anxiety, diversity issues, communication disorders, sexual and domestic abuse and self harm. I am trained in humanistic, psychodynamic and system theories which means I can draw upon a range of approaches and modalities to meet each clients individual needs.
Key to successful therapy is the relationship. Finding a counsellor that you feel comfortable with and trust is important. I offer a safe space in which you are free to discuss issues openly. If you would like to get a better idea of the way I work, or if you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch to ascertain whether I am the right Counsellor for you.
