Nicola Dass FdA, MBACP (Reg) 'RENEW THERAPY'
Edgbaston Private Medical Practice

Renaissance Natural Therapy Centre

As a BACP Registered Practitioner, I endeavour to provide a professional and ethical private counselling service to adults on a 'one to one' basis. I provide safe, respectful and non-judgemental therapy in a discreet but welcoming environment.
My approach to counselling is integrative, which means that I integrate a range of therapeutic approaches to engage with my clients in therapy. This enables me to work with you as an individual person by adapting my counselling approach accordingly to suit your specific needs. As an integrative counsellor, I view the person's whole experience as important rather than focusing individually on thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Bringing together these aspects of a person provides a whole experience to work with in the therapy room.
My primary aim is to develop the therapeutic relationship, which I believe to be the key component for a successful outcome. Together we will discuss the difficulties that have brought you to counselling and consider appropriate ways of working through them. Exploring and identifying your feelings, values, beliefs and expectations in a safe, confidential environment will encourage ways of problem solving by looking at new options and perspectives. This process may help you to clearly identify and address your own needs, restore balance in your life, make autonomous choices and to achieve your desired goals. The ultimate aim is to help you to live harmoneously within yourself and with others so that you can engage with life more fully.
One to one counselling will begin with an initial consultation which enables us both to decide if we can work together. Counselling will be held in a private, tranquil therapy room for client discretion and sessions will be held on a weekly basis for 50 minutes. The time frame of counselling will depend on what you want to work through. I offer short-term therapy (6 - 8 weeks) and open-ended therapy, which is longer term and will be reviewed regularly.
Making the initial contact can be the first step towards your personal journey of self discovery and restoring inner peace. Initially, it may feel unnerving to share your personal and private experiences but you can be completely assured that all communication between us is held in the strictest of confidence and that good practice and care is provided in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

Training, qualifications & experience
My training began in 2007, studying courses in the field of counselling whilst assisting in the development of a support group at the Women's Hospital, Birmingham. I progressed to higher education at Newman University, where I successfully completed my degree in integrative counselling. During my training and post graduation, I practised as In-House Counsellor for one of eight GP surgeries within the Midland Medical Partnership. I gained extensive knowledge and experience counselling clients with a wide range of mental health issues based upon the appropriate use and integration of a range of theoretical orientations.
I am currently self-employed and regularly engage in professional development training, workshops and clinical supervision to continue broadening the development of my clinical practice as a private therapist.
