About me

There are times in everyone's lives when they feel that they could benefit from some support. Perhaps you are feeling depressed or anxious, struggling to cope with life in general or just 'stuck'. Counselling provides the availability of time and space in order for you to explore any problems you may be encountering in your daily life or any issues that may be troubling you from the past.

My style of working allows the counselling to be unique to you and focused on your life experiences. I specialise in providing a warm, non judgmental environment, enhanced with empathy and integrity in order to support you in your understanding of yourself.

I aim to establish a therapeutic relationship which will enable you to examine your feelings and work towards improving your well being. By providing a safe and confidential environment I am able to help you to enhance your sense of control and choice over your life.

Often if you are struggling with a particular issue or decision just a few sessions are enough for you to have a clearer picture of your problem and to decide on what course of action you may wish to take. However, for more deep rooted or complicated issues longer term counselling, may be required.

I work mainly with adults, couples and young people aged 15 and over.

I offer a free, no obligation, initial consultation in order that I can get to know a little bit about you and you may ask any questions you may have. If you would like to know more or wish to book a free introductory, no obligation consultation please contact me today to arrange an appointment.

Experience

I have a wide experience working with many different client groups. In addition to working in private practice in Henfield I also work for other counselling agencies. I have gained specific training and experience in the field of bereavement and continue to work as a bereavement support volunteer with a local charity. I also work for an independent counselling organisation based in Southwick which supports clients who are working through issues such as abuse, relationship problems, addictions, low self esteem and anxiety.

As a qualified counsellor I am a member of the BACP and therefore adhere to their code of ethics. I am also CRB checked.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

My philosophy of supervision is that it is a contracted arrangement between a supervisor and supervisee, within which the supervisee feels supported whilst they discuss, in depth, their work with clients.
