About me

I am a fully qualified and registered member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. As an integrative therapist I work in a psychoanalytical approach, underpinned by person centred therapy. Helping clients explore their own awareness and understanding behaviours can be self empowering. Therapy can be used as part of your personal journey as well as times of increased anxiety, stress and pain. You can self refer directly by telephone/text or email (07493311716/nicholefaulkner1@icloud.com). All enquiries are treated with absolute discretion and confidentiality. I accept referrals from external agencies such as GP services and EAP's (Employee Assistance Programmes).

I have an interest in working with issues which may arise from childhood and development. Many people are often unaware that current difficulties in relationships (personal and work), self esteem and generalised anxiety/depression can become clearer by exploring our earlier years. The difficulties may be very current, new ongoing or re-occurring. Whatever your experiences, together we will work through them to be able to understand what is going on for you and find a way to be able to move forward.

I am privileged to share in my clients' emotional journeys and process. I have experience in the volunteer sector whereby I supported clients through bereavement and life changing illnesses, and many other complex issues. I have also gained extensive experience working within the NHS. Currently I am a private therapist offering short and long term therapy dependent upon clients needs. You may have specific reasons for seeking therapy, or may not sure what has brought you towards seeking support. Making the first step toward reaching out can be the start of an incredible journey. Believing that everyone should have the space to 'just be' is what drives my passion and own journey to where I am now. We can work together in a way that is non-judgemental, accepting, warm and nurturing.

I fundamentally believe in each individuals value whilst facilitating the process of exploring issues, and enabling you to move forward. My analytical approach is very much a shared relationship, aimed to work jointly at a therapeutic pace best for you. Empathy and acceptance is essential to explore whatever you choose to share in your therapy sessions.  I am committed to my clients and strongly endorse confidentiality in accordance with The BACP's ethical framework.

I have a great passion for 'talking therapies' and I believe most people can benefit from personalised tailored psychotherapy through many stages and difficulties in life. As required from The BACP, I have ongoing professional supervision. My supervisor is a  qualified Transactional Psychotherapist and has extensive experience.. This supports me in providing a high standard of practice, keeping my clients central to the therapeutic process. I am also very proactive in my own professional development. I attend regular training, seminars and peer support/training groups to be able to offer my clients best practice.

If you would like to exlore the difficulties you are experiencing or you would like an informal discussion I am happy to receive or return calls and reply to email/text enquiries and together we can explore how to move forward in a way which suits you. My private practice is situated in Labyrinth House, Middle Hillgate, Stockport with available parking. It is easily accessible via public transport, M60, M56 joining the A6. It is a discreet, comfortable and wellcoming space to begin your journey. I look forward to hearing from you..

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
