About me

It can be difficult at times to admit that we are feeling vulnerable or simply not coping with life, however it is at these times we may need some support. I am a professional therapist, and aim to provide a secure place where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted without feeling judged and where you can feel supported enough to explore painful and difficult thoughts and feelings.

I am a professionally qualified and experienced counsellor and a member of the BACP.

My counselling approach is integrative and person-centred, which means I tailor the way I work to the individual and their particular difficulties. I draw on techniques from a variety of different approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and Psycho-dynamic. I believe every person is unique and the answers that they seek already lies within them.

Training, qualifications & experience

Level 5 PG Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling
Cruse Certificate in Bereavement Support

In addition to my private practice, I have worked with MIND (National mental health charity). I was a bereavement counsellor with Cruse Bereavement Care, which is the leading national charity for bereaved people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. I have also worked as a counsellor in the Drug Addiction Treatment Centre, TTP.

I am a member of BACP, and registered on the BACP Register of counsellors & Psychotherapists and I abide by their Ethical Framework.

I am committed to ongoing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
