As an experienced counsellor, I can help you to work out your problems and issues in a safe therapeutic setting, through dialogue and insight, making the unconscious conscious so that change can occur.
Psychodynamic counselling is short-term solution focused treatment (6-12 sessions) or long-term in-depth work, depending on the goals of therapy. There is however a need to commit to weekly sessions but both models aim to alleviate distress by helping you to understand your feelings of anxiety, depression, loss, sadness, helplessness, loneliness or anger.
I have a particular interest in working with loss, bereavement and coping with illness or disability.

As a GP Practice Counsellor, I have worked with hundreds of people suffering from problems in all areas, including depression, anxiety, stress, family and relationship problems, low self-esteem, bereavement and other losses, workplace issues, coping with disability and illness and childhood trauma and abuse.
Some most rewarding work was with amputees and their family members, coming to terms with their loss and adapting to a new way of life. Other experience includes work with gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender clients and those with HIV.
Death through road traffic collisions is both shocking and traumatic. I have supported family members who have experienced this most painful loss with their grieving when I worked for the Road Victims Trust charity.
I have many years experience working with people on the Autistic spectrum and work as an Independent Pupil Advocate at a school and children's home for pupils with severe learning disabilities and autism.
