About me

Hi my name is Myke and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, Lecturer & Clinical Supervisor. My company is called MRH Wellbeing.

I am a Accredited Registrant (MNCPS Acc) of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and on the accredited register of counsellors and psychotherapists compiled by the NCPS.

I am currently a Senior Therapist working within a residential children's home and learning centre for looked after children and young people in care between the ages of seven and seventeen with social, emotional and mental health needs, communication difficulties (autistic spectrum condition; Asperger's Syndrome, speech, language and communication needs), ADHD and complex learning needs who have experienced ACE's and trauma.

In a previous role as a Therapy Manager I have had experience of managing a multidisciplinary team of therapists working with looked after children and young people aged five to 25, I also have experience as a Substance and Alcohol Misuse Therapist working within a residential Rehab setting.

I am trained in  Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Expressive therapies, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dyadic Developmental Practice, Psychotherapy and Parenting (DDP), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Person Centred Therapy (PCT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

I am able to use one or a mixture of these theories when working with clients to best meet their requirements.

I also have knowledge and further training in other theoretical modalities such as Transactional Analysis (TA), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Mindfulness which can be drawn upon and utilised within our counselling work to suit your individual needs.

I provide a broad range of services to clients including one to one therapy, couples counselling, same sex relationships, transgender and LGBT+ issues.

I work with relationship issues such as communication problems, conflict, affairs, divorce and separation, I also work with individuals who are in addiction recovery and also people who may be suffering with anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement & loss, grief, trauma, break up of a relationship, suicide and self-harm.

I offer open ended therapy, which means you can see me short term or long term, based on your individual needs.

In a nutshell, the support of a therapist can help find ways to accept and make peace with the things we feel we can’t change, and make positive changes where we can. We can increase awareness that we have choices in life and deal with our troubles when they are taking over and affecting our lives in a negative way and this could be because of unresolved issues concerning grief, an inability to let go of the past, feeling overwhelmed with relationship problems, divorce, drug or alcohol dependency – the list is endless and complex because people themselves are complex and life can throw a multitude of difficulties our way.

I provide counselling services to individuals, schools, workplace and medical practitioners.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
