About me

I am an experienced counsellor psychotherapist accredited with the BACP (British association counselling psychotherapy). I work with adults, couples, and young people from 7 years onwards.

My style of working is supportive, accepting and gently challenging. I offer a safe supportive and confidential space in which you can explore possible areas in your life where you may feel stuck. I am committed to you, in terms of what it is you want to gain from our working together. I aim to ensure that you as the client feels that the relationship works at a pace that feels right for you.

How can counselling help me?

The aim is to help and support you to discover what is going on in your life, what you have become aware of. This helps you to gain insight and clarity into who you are and gain greater control of your life. Counselling aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing pain or making you feel uncomfortable. It can provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings. I am here to support you and respect your views. I will help you to find your own insight and understanding of your problems. Counselling can help you to:

  • Understand yourself and your problems better
  • Feel more confident in considering what the next step looks like.
  • Develop a better understanding of other peoples point of view

What can I expect?

Once you have made an enquiry, you will be offered an appointment for an assessment. The assessment will last approximately 60-90 minutes, during this time you will be asked a series of questions, in relation to your sense of self which will include your reasons for coming to therapy. This will greatly help in assessing your needs. Following this appointment you can consider whether you would like to continue with sessions without feeling any pressure to continue. All assessments and sessions are held in the strictest confidence.

Part of what I offer includes an evaluation process after 6 weeks of individual 60 minute counselling sessions which provides you with the opportunity to reflect on how you feel since starting therapy. And most importantly on whether you feel that therapy is meeting your needs.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
