About me

It may seem hard to take the first step to talk to a counsellor, so making contact by phone or email may feel easier as a positive first step.

I am able to offer you a free 15 minute telephone assessment including a further consultation at a reduced rate I where I can get a sense of what you need help with and you can get a feel for me and if I might be the right counsellor for you. Initial assessment will take 30 minutes. There is no obligation to continue after the initial consultation.

What is counselling?

When we are stopped in our tracks by an event or situation that we do not, in the here and now have the resources to sort out, counselling offers you a safe, confidential place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable.

How Counselling can help

My counselling approach is integrative this means I am able to address a wide range of emotional issues that enables me to draw upon my training. By producing a unique therapy that is adapted to suit what you need and want, which includes not only your internal world, your experiences within the wider family and socio-cultural context, through integration of different ways of helping you to think, feel and react this may help you to bring about change into your life.

By working together we can create a new in-depth relationship which is supportive and caring which will enable us to explore the ways, thought, behaviour and feelings affect each other. Having had counselling myself this has given me the experience to 'walk in your shoes' enabling me to be mindful of how past traumas and experiences not limited to abuse, affairs and betrayals, low self-esteem, low self-confidence can be carried across to the present and how aspects of these patterns can impact on our work together.
By giving you the awareness to make better choices and how you respond to experiences in the here and now even in the most difficult situations will be the key to the change that may be fuelling your anxiety, depression and painful relationship problems enabling you to achieve your goal.

I work with my philosophical belief that every human being has the right to lead an authentic life. As well as experiencing me approachable through listening therapeutically and by establishing a safe and confidential environment where you can be heard without judgement, built on respect and understanding, I believe this may empower you giving you the independence to realise your own unique potential.

By strengthening your boundaries, self-care, self-compassion, and relationship skills, you can experience more happiness, confidence, and a better relationship with yourself and others.

By increasing your awareness this may enable you to describe traumatic experiences when your verbal skill may be lacking, giving you the resources to feel freer to give meaning to events.

In addition to individual, couples, I also work children 5-11 years (and the child’s parents or carers) by making used of toys (such as puppets, doll houses, sand-trays, clay, art materials, including therapeutic story-telling) and young teenagers up to the age of 18 years where I can explore various issues they might find difficult to express such (depression, anxiety, panic attacks) that may be caused by:

  • Abuse
