I have been in private practice for over twenty five years. I offer a calm, comfortable and confidential space to explore any difficult feelings, emotions or thoughts that are causing distress at the moment. This can range from anxiety and depression through to suicidal feelings and panic. These feelings may have come about through relationship breakdown, feelings of betrayal, or loss and grief.
Every one has difficult times in their lives, especially in times of stress such as death and divorce. Loss of a loved one can leave one in a state of such grief it is hard to know how to carry on. Talking things over can helpful in transforming and alleviating feelings that are overwhelming.
This is completely confidential.
How I work
For people who have a specific problem or situation that is troubling them, then just a few sessions can often bring about some resolution and ease.
For others it may be feelings of depression, emptiness,or loneliness, that appears separate from any 'issue' will take longer to understand and work through.
Enabling clients to understand their problems and to resolve them in a way that feels right for them, is my priority. This is a quiet and gentle process. Empowering and strengthening the client to find their own ground and clarity.
We can also work together with dreams. This is a wonderful resource which we all have as a way of bypassing conscious thought and giving access to the realms of the unconscious.
What To Expect
I work from home which is comfortable and quiet.
Each session is an hour long and my fee varies between £45-50 depending on income, this includes the initial session.
During the initial session you can tell me what is troubling you and then we can discuss what would be the best way forward, and whether we feel we could work together.
If you are happy to continue with me, we'll agree on a regular appointment which will be at the same time and place each week.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist UKCP Reg.
My training body and affiliation is with Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy 1989-2000.
I have worked in GP surgeries, and been in private practice since 1991.
Primarily, I work developmentally, with theory that gives understanding to the development of the infant and its psyche. I am interested in what the client brings in the 'here and now'; i.e anxiety, depression, grief, anger, sadness, fear, and confusion about any life situation, such as breakdown and or loss of a relationship.
I am also interested in people who do not have any particular crisis but are aware of feeling stuck and wish to grow and change.
For the past ten years I have been working with Jungian theory of the imaginal, fairytales and myth. Also with an understanding of the Shadow and complexes.
I am interested and have experience of working with spontaneous image making, helping to express what cannot always be put into words.
