I am an eclectic therapeutic counsellor, who is able to offer you an individual service responding to your needs as we identify them within the sessions. I work on a cycle of six sessions review, where we will look at the progress made over this period and restate the goals taking into account the changes that have taken place in your sessions.
My interest and experience in mental health comes from my initial training in art and my working career in childcare. I went on to combine the two for the well being and development of children and young people setting up and managing a business in childcare. From here I trained as a teacher and tutored in college and taught in schools and more recently trained in counselling.
In 2012 I set up a private practice, Talking Heads Therapy, I use the skills and abilities gained from my previous roles to promote and encourage my clients to find a way of determining what is right for them to lead the life they choose.
I have worked for Cruse Bereavement Care as a volunteer since 2010, working with children and young people and I supervise other volunteers that support children for Cruse.
I have recently worked for a period as a freelance therapeutic counsellor for Breast Cancer Care UK, facilitating a group for ladies who have been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer.
I currently work part time for CAHA Women's Aid locally as their in-house counsellor, using a variety of techniques including art to support them.
Aside from my counselling practice, I host a Secret Supper Club every couple of months, where my husband and I enjoy meeting, feeding and entertaining guests.
How Counselling can help
In Talking Heads Therapy sessions I will offer you new insight to free up the way to achieve the life you want to live. Because you are searching for a counsellor, I believe you are in a better place to work towards achieving your goals and you are instantly in a frame of mind to focus on a better and healthier life for yourself and those around you.
By talking and using counselling and therapeutic techniques you can explore and take time to experience what it is like to make changes and to see the results. Through the therapeutic relationship you can explore and develop new thoughts, challenge existing feelings and practice and demonstrate new ways of responding and behaving with others. It is a space where anything is possible and the place to try out new ideas and ways of handling aspects of life that you need to change.
My style of counselling is very much a 'can do' style focusing on finding you a way of managing your difficulties and progressing within a supportive and encouraging environment. I work on a six-session cycle, with regular reviews to ensure that you are making the progress you want towards the achievable goals you have identified.
Based in Denbigh, North Wales, my practice is called Talking Heads Therapy and is run from my home. It offers a safe, calm and creative environment for clients to explore ways to find their equilibrium to maintain a healthy and vibrant life. I do use other venues close to a clients place of work or home. I offer a service that is flexible and accommodating.
I am based in the town of Denbigh and the premises has on street parking available. It is also on the main bus route to the town.
Alongside Talking Heads Therapy, I carry out voluntary work in a bereavement counselling service with children and young people.
