About us

About LGBTQ Counselling at MindOut

LGBTQ Counselling at MindOut is a counselling service based in Brighton, which is run by and for LGBTQ communities. Our service is impartial, independent and non-judgemental.

All our counsellors identify as LGBTQ, and are either qualified from or training on, courses provided by recognised professional Counselling bodies. This means that all our LGBTQ Counsellors follow a code of ethics and values in relation to their counselling work with you. They all receive regular supervision and support alongside further training with us to ensure they are well equipped to understand therapeutic work within LGBTQ communities.

LGTBQ Counselling at MindOut provides relational counselling, which is not goal orientated, or about telling you what to do. Our LGBTQ counsellors will work to develop a trusting and confidential therapeutic relationship with you so that you can feel safe to work through the issues which are troubling you.

Our LGBTQ counsellors can work with a wide variety of issues, including gender, sexuality, bereavement, depression, anxiety, illness, disability, hate crime, stress, work issues, parenting, sex and relationships, lack of meaning, and eating disorders, the list is endless. Sometimes you may not know what the problem is, but just feel that you need some support. Whatever the issue our  LGBTQ counselling service can help.

There is a charge for the LGBTQ Counselling service in the form of a weekly payment.  We are committed to making the service affordable and have a sliding scale of fees based on your income and your circumstances to ensure you can afford to access the support you need.

We will be keep your waiting time to a minimum, which will be dependent on the availability of Counsellors, and on when you are free to come in to our offices in central Brighton.  We will make sure you see a Counsellor as quickly as possible.

Training, qualifications & experience

All our counsellors are LGBTQ, and are qualified from or attending Post Graduate level counselling courses recognised by professional counselling bodies.

Our counsellors are trained in LGBTQ affirmative practice and attend regular training in work with the LGBTQ communities.
