About me

About therapy

Most people will find that there are times in their lives when things feel particularly difficult, perhaps overwhelmingly so. This might be because of something specific that's happening in your life, or you may be experiencing feelings without understanding why you're experiencing them. Therapy can be a way of helping you to understand what's going on for you in an environment that is safe and supportive.

What next?

Please do contact me by email if you have any questions at all - about therapy, how I work, or if you're not sure if I might be the right therapist for you and you'd like to know more. Finding the right fit for you is imperative to the counselling process so do get in touch if you'd like to get more of an idea if you may feel comfortable working with me.

About me and my experience

I am a qualified, accredited and experienced therapist and have worked with people facing a variety of issues such as;
- Relationship and/or family issues - this can include separation and divorce, gaslighting, difficult family dynamics, issues with children
- Anxiety and depression
- Bereavement
 - Low self-esteem and low confidence
- Loss of identity due to a trauma or negative experience
- Childhood trauma
- Work place stress
- Pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood.

Part of my commitment to you is to offer a safe, non-judgemental and collaborative space for you to explore the issues you wish to at your own pace. I believe that feeling heard and understood in therapy can have a powerful effect and that through the building of a trusting and secure counselling relationship, a person in counselling can start to gain a new perspective on what's going on in their lives.

I work with people who identify themselves in a variety of different ways, whether related to their sexuality, gender, religion or cultural backgrounds.

I can offer sessions either face to face, online or over the phone.

I am a qualified and accredited Person-Centred counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Registered member MBACP). I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice (2018). I have a BA Hons and Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from the Metanoia Institute, which is affiliated with Middlesex University.

Prior to working in mental health, I had a career working in film and theatre. I've worked with many people from this industry in my counselling work. I currently work with a mental health organisation called Wellbeing in the Arts that offers counselling and wellbeing support to employees of a variety of Arts organisations.

I have worked for a variety of charitable organisations in London. I spent 2 years working for an EAP (Employee Assistance Programme), offering support to employees from a variety of organisations.

I have experience working with people long term, as well as on a more short term basis.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
