About me

I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist, and trainee Supervisor providing a safe and Confidential space to explore what brings us into therapy. I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical guidelines for safe practice.

I have worked in the field of mental health for over 24 years - including being Director of two local children’s mental health charities - working in the NHS in rehab psychiatry.

I have undertaken additional training including a MA in Child & Adolescent and currently just completed the teaching element of L6 Dip in Supervision.

This is to enhance my work with young people, I feel that it is so important to work with emerging mental health and help safeguard the future adults of tomorrow, life is so different now for our young people, many factors have changed and children and young people are exposed to many more pressures.

I am currently offering appointments face to face and online (online 18 plus only).

Training, qualifications & experience

My initial training was at New Stamford College, I obtained 3 Certificates/Diploma in counselling concepts and counselling skills and an advanced Certificate/Dip in Humanistic Counselling.

I continued my training at The Sherwood Institute in Nottingham, where I studied for a further 3 years and successfully obtained a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic / Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy (Adult Therapy Training).

I am currently undertaking a Diploma in Supervision and completed the taught element.

I completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play (Child & Adolescent) (2014) and more recently 2 year conversation to Child and Adolescent.

Throughout my career, I have attended many varied training and professional development workshops including self-harm ( self-harm.org) types of abuse, child protection level 1 & 2, working with children, anxiety & depression, bereavement & loss for children.

I attended a 5 day CPD workshop on Child & Adolescent counselling, this training was in line with the new legislation of the BACP in working with young people. (2016)

My private practice encompasses working with Adults and Children from 16yr plus.

I currently work within a school with children aged 5 - 18 years old. (Privately from 16yrs)

I was also the clinical director of The Young Peoples Counselling Service, a charity providing free counselling support to young adolescents 11-18yrs within my local area and more recently Director of Services for Centre 33 - I offer consulting to the VCSE sector with one project being recently nominated for an award.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
