If you need to talk with someone, I can offer you a safe and professional service. I counsel out of a comfortable base in Nottingham city centre and also one in West Bridgford. I can help you if you're experiencing isolation, burn out, anxiety, depression, relational breakdown, personal crisis or some kind of addiction. I will help you to explore and find a way through whatever difficulties are facing you in life.
Let me reassure you by saying that many people, at some point in their lives, will experience panic, anxiety, depression, loss, or grief and seek professional help.
These stressors can cause emotional triggers, panic and sometimes crisis. If you are in conflict, inner or external it's good to seek professional help. It's good to talk to a professional who will listen to you and work with you for your highest good, and best interests. I work towards helping clients to experience emotional freedom.
I work with couples, individuals, and adolescents offering short term CBT, long term therapy, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, in a caring and professional setting. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is good for participants who are looking for an alternative and more holistic approach to general well-being or crisis intervention, where skills cards offer structure and education.
I am UKCP reg and work in an ethical way. Counselling is a positive step towards addressing issues personal to you, with the aim of gaining new self awareness and leading to personal growth and emotional well-being. Whether you have recently encountered an experience, or if it is a long term issue that you do not want to live with any longer, "counselling can help" you reach a place of resolution.
Life is short and with the right help you should be able to live it to the fullest with the resources available to you . Maybe you need to re-discover your resources or awake them for the first time?
Throughout life's stages we can learn negative things about relationships, emotions, love and death, these interpretations, or experiences can often impact how we see ourselves and the world around us. A negative perception is detrimental, it can distort, and cause limitation in our relationships or your sense of fulfilment in life. It can cause you worry, you might want to bring this into counselling therapy?
You can uncover core beliefs about yourself to better understand the root cause of living with unwanted anxiety, distress, depression, relational issues, eating problems, loss, grief or why you live under any other limitation..
You can learn about Mindfulness, breathing techniques, visualisation or about unblocking negative emotions, and overcoming challenges personal to you.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I use Equine Assisted Psychotherapy for a more holistic approach to work alongside people who want to learn about themselves on a deeper level. The aim is to learn to develop and grow, to face and overcome obstacles in life.
The horses give participants biofeedback during sessions. It's a fact they pick up on and mirror your heart beat 4 feet away. They reveal feelings. I use skills cards for structure and education in sessions.
Each participant will be given a diary and welcome pack to guide you on your journey and empower you to choose tasks to engage in with the team.
The emphasis is on the therapeutic relationship and learning through experiential time with the horses completing tasks and learning horsemanship skills.
Sometimes people's emotions can be difficult to understand let alone identify or express, especially if they're unconscious or outside of their own awareness. If a person can not fully identify their feelings, or patterns to articulate them, it can lead to misunderstandings, angry outbursts and lack of meaningful connections impacting on the important people in their lives.
Adolescents can find the pathway of growing into emotional maturity hard. Using a horse can be a fun and powerful way to make psychotherapy work, using the horses in a safe environment to facilitate personal growth.

Practical guide to making initial contact.
Choose a time where you are free and unhurried to make initial contact by phone or e-mail to arrange for a consultation. If I am unable to answer your call you can leave a message with your name and contact details and I will get back to you at the first opportunity. When I return your call I will speak only with the person named in the message for confidentiality reasons.
If you are contacting me by e-mail you can include a summary of what you would like counselling for, as long as you are comfortable with leaving this information via e-mail. All calls and e-mails are strictly confidential.
Once we have arranged a date/time for you to come to counselling we can explore your needs and see whether this type of counselling will meet those needs, and whether we can work together during this process. There are many types of counselling and some suit clients better than others it all depends on what fits and what works best. I am more than willing to answer any questions presented to me during this initial session to help you make a decision. Once the decision has been made we can begin the counselling process. The initial meeting will last for 50 minutes.
