About me

As a Relate trained, relationship specialist with 19 years experience, I can offer you a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space to explore and resolve the problems you are encountering. Often relationships have broken down significantly, or sexual relationships have become a real source of distress and anxiety before clients make contact with me and I understand how difficult it can be to seek help. I will sensitively and collaboratively support you to explore and understand the roots of the problem and the reasons why it has been difficult to resolve. Ensuring that both parties are able to be heard and minimising conflict in communication, my goal is to help you achieve the strong relationship you want and to make positive and lasting changes.

In counselling I have helped with problems such as:

  • Unresolved arguments or power struggles within a relationship
  • The impact of affairs or relationships outside of the couple's relationship, including internet relationships, rebuilding trust
  • Coping with being part of a blended family
  • Difficulties with separation or divorce
  • Parenting issues whether together as parents or apart
  • Managing big changes such as redundancy, illness or retirement
  • Drifting apart and losing the special feelings that couples have for each other

In Psycho Sexual Therapy I have helped people with aspects of intimacy such as:

  • Loss of desire or discrepancies of desire between couples
  • Penetrative sex difficulties such as pain (dyspareunia) or vaginismus
  • Difficulties reaching orgasm, whether this be too quickly or not at all
  • Erectile problems, or difficulties in becoming aroused
  • The impact of ageing, illness or disability
  • Having more fun, communicating more easily about sex

Psycho Sexual Therapy (PST) uses a cognitive behavioural approach in order to understand and resolve the issues that are causing distress. Using PST I will sensitively discuss the sexual problem with you and help you to resolve things that you may have been embarrassed to deal with in the past.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counselling and PST supervisor through a CPCAB accredited course. I hold a Masters Degree in Relationship Therapy, through the Relate Institute, accredited by the University of Hull. I hold the Relate Certificate in Marital and Couples Counselling and the Diploma in Psycho Sexual Therapy from Relate. During the past 5 years I have taught students on a Post Graduate diploma in Psycho Sexual Therapy on behalf of the Relate Institute, at Birkbeck University. I am an accredited member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and work within their ethical guidelines at all times.

I am an integrated therapist which means I can combine different approaches from my training in many different aspects of counselling (Psychodynamic, Systemic and Cognitive Behavioural) to best help my clients explore, understand and resolve their difficulties.

My 19 years of practice means that I have extensive experience of working with clients from different backgrounds, cultures, sexualities, ages and abilities.

I work in a collaborative, supportive and non judgemental way and aim to be as flexible as possible, offering appointments in the evenings and at weekends, as well as daytime appointments, online, from my office in Crowthorne, Berkshire.
