Michael Hogben MA (UKCP) PG Dip Counselling, Dip Psych.
I have worked for many years in the caring professions, first as a residential social worker with a diverse range of clients, and later as a counsellor and psychotherapist. I now work exclusively with adults who are looking for a new beginning, to make fresh sense of their lives and to learn how to negotiate their difficult feelings.
As a client, you may wish to explore specific life issues, such as problems at work, or how to approach your work/life balance. You may also wish to look at where you are in life generally, at your personal relationships, your sexuality, or those stage of life issues that affect us all in very different ways.
I work cooperatively with you on those problem areas that depress and panic you: relationship break ups, bereavement, or the mid life crisis, where you feel you have missed out or not achieved enough in your life. I will help you gently and creatively to explore your deeper feelings and fears about yourself and about how you currently live your life.
You are very welcome to email me or contact me by phone to discuss the kind of therapy I offer, and to possibly book an initial consultation. In this session - which may extend into a second appointment, we will review the issues that you are experiencing and determine the best way to address them. In some cases a brief therapeutic intervention will be recommended. In others, longer open-ended therapy will be more appropriate. Finally, I may suggest other options that may be more appropriate, depending on your particular circumstances.
