Michael Feat ~ Experienced Psychotherapist Counsellor and Supervisor ~ MSc UKCP
St Katharines Retreat Centre
Henley On Thames
28 West Street
I completed separate counselling, psychotherapy and supervisor trainings at the Metanoia Institute in London over the course of many years to achieve BA and MSc degrees in those disciplines. Metanoia is widely regarded as one of the more rigorous trainings available. Following qualification I worked for a long time providing individual and group psychotherapy for the Dove Centre in Aylesbury before establishing a solid private practice in Marlow Bucks. I have been accredited with the UKCP for a number years, again this is an organisation which sets a high standard in terms of Continuing Professional Development.
I have a special interest in helping people with a range of anxiety issues, and a wide experience in helping people with:
- abuse issues
- addictions [including inappropriate internet use]
- eating disorders
- personality problems, a variety of depression issues
- loss and bereavement
- trauma work
- and a special interest in autistic presentations.
Extensive further training in relational therapy has directly supported my Couples' work and now forms a significant part of my practice. Further, I remain committed to an ethical pricing structure in line with peer professionals within the UKCP.
I focus on working with people to improve the quality and meaning of their lives and their relationships. I aim to empower people towards making a lasting difference outside the room and my experience of this work has shown me time and again that the combination of experience, relationship and new thinking can open the door to change.
For some people, the process of finding their way and moving forward can be relatively short, whilst for some there is more complexity and history to take account of. For all, there will be a freedom to explore and no pressure in making the most appropriate choice.
My main practice is located within St Katharine’s Retreat Centre, Parmoor, Frieth RG9 6NN, in beautiful grounds with ample free parking 3 miles from Marlow in Bucks.
