Merie Sharman BA (Hons); FdA Degree., MBACP
I have worked for many years within the community with the visually and physically handicapped. I have work experience with grief and bereavement and end of life challenges and continue this interest at the local Hospice and Youth Agency. I work with The Royal Borough Council as an Advocate to support vulnerable as well as individuals with learning difficulties to have their voice heard.
There are times when we lose direction or focus and become overwhelmed by issues that affect our lives and relationships. People seek counselling for a variety of reasons; what is impacting on their lives and to discover their potential. I will work with you to explore the issues that are causing pain, stress and anxiety. We will look at ways to move forward to realise your potential.
My approach to counselling has a Person-centred and Humanistic foundation as well as Integrative Work Practice, bringing together diverse skills from other approaches and philosophies which inform my practice. My work practice allows me to support individuals through various issues, for short or long-term work.
I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds; different cultures; nationalities; occupations; age; religion; sexual orientation as well as the wholeness of the individual - the importance of the individual.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BA (Hons) Integrative Counselling as well as a FdA Degree in Humanistic Counselling both accredited and recognised BACP courses. I have been involved in bereavement counselling for some years and hold a Certificate in Bereavement and continue my work within the local Hospice. I have worked with 'Child in Contact' Service; when adult relationships breakdown with children involved (Cafcass). Over many years, using my therapeutic skills, I have supported Windsor and Maidenhead Counselling Agency that is acknowledged and supported for it's service to the community by The Royal Borough of Maidenhead and Windsor. I have extended my practice by working in partnership with Slough Mencap, supporting those with Learning Difficulties.
I am a registered Member of the BACP with regular supervision as well as following an ongoing programme of Continued Professional Development that allows me to bring up to date information to support my clients and my work practice.
I have a social background working for many years within the community as an outreach worker in the Slough/Langley/Bracknell areas supporting groups; some with learning disabilities, visually and physically handicapped, and have been actively a counsellor for several years.

My practice is based on confidentiality, respect, acceptance, non-judgemental, trust, genuineness, empathic understanding and a belief in the client's own inbuilt resources. I firmly believe in the Client's Autonomy ,the importance of Being and work supporting and exploring the issues that have brought them to counselling in a compassionate manner.
Life can be painful at times; don't continue to suffer anxieties that are stopping you from realising your potential and living life harmoniously. Understand the impact on your life and what is causing pain.
Life's ups and downs may threaten to throw you off course; sometimes you have to put your own needs first - it's not selfish, it's about self-care understanding your own worth; yes, you are valued!
Why not phone, make contact and get out of life what you deserve. Help yourself through exploration to relieve the issues that have brought you to counselling in a safe, non-judgemental and contained environment that is confidential.
